Envisioned as a cultural destination not only for the local community but also for international tourists and visitors; it is essential to make a bold architectural statement in creating an iconic landmark that is connected to Helsinki urban fabric. The explicitly designed structure respectfully sets contrast with surroundings by juxtaposing the architectural elements between the static and dramatic, solid and transparent.
Visitors are lead into the museum via a series of spaces that gradually ascends, and culminates at the “Helsinki gallery”; providing dramatic open views towards the city skyline.
